Rosa is an old Dutch “Clipper” barge that has been completely refitted to a high specification. Her saloon is particularly welcoming and features attractive wood panelling, comfortable seating and a cosy bar. There are 4 air-conditioned staterooms, each with full en suite facilities and offering accommodation for 8 passengers.
Outside there is a spacious sun deck with comfortable furniture. The barge also appeared, with Anjodi, in the very successful BBCTV series Rick Stein’s French Odyssey.
Rosa also offers 2 different, but equally scenic cruise routes on the Canal de Garonne. The first is from April to July through Gascony, a delightful region of quaint villages, orchards, vineyards and fortified ‘bastide’ towns. The itinerary includes private wine and Armagnac tastings, an aqueduct crossing and a visit to Moissac with its UNESCO-classified 7th century abbey.
Then, from August to October, Rosa cruises into the world-renowned Bordeaux wine-growing region and there are visits to St Emilion, a grand cru domaine for a private wine tasting and the medieval town of Nerac.
